This workshop is designed to provide an insight into the methods and means of current elite football coaches. The coaches delivering the webinars will not only explain why they do but highlight how they do using interactive videos and case studies.

Within the webinars coaches will discuss how working as part of a multi-disciplinary team is key to improving team and individual performance.

Course Objectives and Target Audience

Objectives

  • Discover how elite coaches develop their philosophy and how they work with other coaches to develop sessions.

  • Gain insight into how to design sessions with different tactical approaches, integrating set pieces, and how to integrate the goalkeeper.

  • Learn how the multi-disciplinary team works together to plan and improve performance.

Target Audience

  • Current and former PFA members

  • Coaches that have completed coaching badges in the past and are looking for new insights.

  • Coaches that may be in-between the UEFA B and A Licenses.

  • Introduction of different playing styles and identities.
  • Integration of philosophy of coaching into tactical styles.
  • Creating a winning culture.
Module 2 - Methodology & session planning design
  • Alignment between playing style/identity with coaching methods.
  • Opposition analysis.
  • Planning sessions with the multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Tactical approach out of possession
Module 3 - Tactical approach out of possession
  • Implementation of team tactics out of possession.
  • Importance of different positions/ structures/formations to serve your tactics.
  • Transitions.
Module 4 - Tactical approach in possession
  • Implementation of team tactics in possession.
  • Importance of different positions/structures/ formations to serve your tactics.
  • Transitions.
Module 5 - Set pieces
  • The role of the set piece coach.
  • Evolution of set pieces within the modern game.
  • How to coach and implement to the weekly structures.
Module 6 - Integrating the goalkeeper
  • Understand the role of the goalkeeper in different tactical styles.
  • Implementation of goalkeeper in technical and tactical sessions.
  • Insight into goalkeeping coaching.
Module 7 - Mental preparation & mindset training
  • Mindset training.
  • Mental training techniques and the integration in your methodology.
  • Managing player wellbeing and welfare.

Module 8 - Individualised training programmes
  • Creating IDP programmes, and the delivery of them.
  • Reviewing of performance in a cyclical pattern and setting goals.
  • Promotion of self-development in players.
Module 9 - Physical preparation integration
  • How to work collaboratively on session goals with sport science team to develop fitness needed to implement your playing style.
  • Tactical periodisation.
  • Managing player load.
Module 10 - Use of data in coaching
  • How coaches adopt the use of modern technology to plan, coach, and review training.
  • How do physical performance variables impact coaching decisions.
  • Data for performance monitoring.

The programme admission fee is £2,000 +VAT. Current and former PFA Members can apply for a grant of £2,000 +VAT to enrol in the programme at a lower cost.
